GENERAL COMMENTS

In the main I have pursued a career in Management and in Finance/ Accounting with various organizations both locally and overseas in the private sector and with government. I have been responsible for the finance function for many years dealing with financial and management reporting, internal control, investment/treasury activities, taxation issuers, mergers and acquisitions and capital /project management issues. I have kept up to date with developments in the accounting/finance industry throughout the years. More recently I have focussed on strategic issues both financial and general and general management activities. However as well as working full time I also took on lecturing and tutoring at the UOW’S campus in Shoalhaven and introduced Accounting 1 in 1994 to 1996 and then moved on to lecture and tutor in the Year 2 subjects of Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, and Business Finance during 1997 to 1999. I therefore covered most areas involving accounting standards, company law, company reporting requirements, taxation, financial management, consolidations, management accounting (including cost control and expense allocation) and so forth.

I have a vast array of experience in all matters concerning companies, government functions and processes as well as academic interests. I have developed a wide range of contacts throughout the private, government and public sectors.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
I am a staunch believer in the need to give community service in any field where you can make a difference to people's quality of life.

LINAC

Dr. Ray Cleary and I began the notion of securing radio therapy treating equipment in Nowra as both of our wives had suffered through cancer. We set the target of raising $1 million to clearly demonstrate community support for the project to the State and Federal politicians who will make the decision about the project. We were joined by Mayor Watson and others and with Council support are nearing our goal.

Melanoma Research
My wife and I are on the local committee which has raised a substantial sum to assist in malanoma research.

Sporting
I have always been a keen sporstman and love the game of rugby. It is indeed the game that is played in heaven where Dr. Ray is holding up one end of St. Peter's scrum. I am the Secretary of Shoalhaven Rugby Club.
